Avoid Burnout - Use Healthy Recipes....

Healthy recipes are essential for health and success. The temptations to eat unwisely are there for us all whether we are in business or just enjoying company over a meal.

As the pressures of work or business mount there is always a threat that self indulgence through food and drink may affect performance and in exreme cases cause burnout.

To avoid this there are a number of important things we can and should do to ensure fitness and good health.

Some exercise coupled with eating from healthy recipes, sound sleeping and relaxation need working at if we are to be happy with ourselves. It is vitally important how we eat, relax, manage our time and sleep.

Success is not totally dependent on healthy eating but to maintain a good weight for height ratio and keep reasonably fit is surely something we owe to our loved ones, our employers/businesses, clients, employees and ourselves.

What's more you get to feel good. In an active life there is always the temptation to eat too well and it can become part of your way of life.

Using healthy recipes isn't difficult, meals take no longer to make and there are some great recipes which bring variety and colour to what you can eat.

I have always had a great appetite and eaten well. At 6'- 4" with a large frame my weight has in the past touched 20 stone so I do speak from experience. (It's a good bit less than that peak now! - I have learned to eat more sensibly).

I even read some of the food pages in the newspapers these days and enjoy my food even more by knowing what is good.

There have been times when under great pressure managing change and stemming losses in a number of businesses it has been very difficult to eat healthily, Living in hotels, working hours which are too long and then eating alone and late is asking for trouble.

Alcohol, drugs and careless eating are NOT the answer. If you know a bit about healthy recipes you can avoid all of the pitfalls.

When carrying out overseas work where the hours can also be long, eating late and not sleeping well combined with lack of exercise and insufficient relaxation can be very debilitating. I've had my share of that also.

Despite being fortunate in being able cope reasonably well I have been through acute periods where I honestly know that I have over indulged, it is a vicious cycle which is difficult to break and it does drain performance and affect relationships.

If I had known what I know now it could have been different!

Eat well based on heatlhy recipes, some exercise, relaxation, avoiding sleep deprivation and regular holidays are all essential for a sound happy balanced life with good relationships and performance.
