When you've done this you then decide the best way to contact them. Telephone, email or letter.

All you are then going to do is tell them of your current situation. If you're out of work you tell them. If you are going to be redundant you tell them. If you want to change job you tell then. If you want to change career you tell them.

You don't ask them to help you. You just simply explain that you are seeking change for whatever reason and as part of your job search program you felt you would like them to know, and yes if they hear of anything that they think would suit you would they kindly let you know.

Now the really lovely bit. You will be staggered at the bank of goodwill you have built by just being you. Every one you contact will want to help you with your job search. You will get help, be fed contacts, opportunities and advice. The response will be so good you will be encouraged, stimulated and your morale and self confidence will soar.

How do I know? Because I've done it and been offered jobs as a result. One of the hardest things I ever had to do was turn down a CEO job that came from such a job search initiative.

I hope you will try this because I know it will work for you.

Of course as you continue with your job search you will need to be able to respond to opportunities. As these opportunities are job related you will need a top notch Resume, or Curriculum Vitae (CV).

That means the emotional impact your Resume makes in the first 3 seconds is CRITICAL. Because recruiting managers decide based on emotions whether or not your Resume is worthy of consideration, and then use "logic" to justify their initial decision. Just as you and I do when making any buying decision.

That means your Resume MUST do 2 things.

It must:........

1) Push readers' emotional hot buttons and make them warm to you within the first 3 seconds -- or it gets binned; and

2) Give readers enough “come on” facts to "logically" compel them to interview you -- or the job goes to somebody else.

That means, if you've been sending out dozens of Resumes in your job search for jobe you KNOW you're perfect for, and employers aren't calling, your Resume is not doing one or both of these two things.
