Learn How You Can Avoid Procrastination and Grow Your Career....
It appears procrastination is the reason many job seekers never make a
career change.
According to some recent research more than 60% of us would rather we had another job although only 5% do anything about it!
Even though most say the need for more money is a driver for seeking to
change career.
Those facts are staggering. Apparently the procrastination is driven by fear of moving from a comfortable environment where you are known.
As I worked through my career I saw it very differently.
Sure procrastination would sometimes operate but more generally if you want to progress it is up to the individual to make things happen. Sitting around waiting for the promotion that never comes is a fool's strategy.
As for the fear factor!
Change is stimulating. Finding the next progressive position is a challenge. Getting the interview is a tester and winning the offer is rewarding.
It's necessary to know where you are aiming and in terms of
career change.
you will need a plan.
What is your ultimate aim?
What skills and experience do you currently possess?
What skills and experience are you wishing to gain from your next move and will this move help you on your path to your ultimate objective?
Are you capable of performing at your next level - don't take too large a step so that you risk failure. That is not an excuse to procrastinate.
One of the big deterrents to ever starting to work at career change is the need for a comprehensive correctly constructed
Resume'
or
Curriculum Vitae (CV).
Your whole career success can hinge on how good is your Resume' or CV. Master this art and as your career progresses you just add to your
Resume'/Curriculum Vitae
at each stage as you plot your path to the ultimate goal.
Remember, as you progress the rewards follow automatically. Let the experience and performance bring the rewards. Don't just be driven by desire for more money.
It worked for me. Shop floor apprentice at 15, to CEO of a 650 employee corporation at the age of 36. No more procrastination just do it and enjoy the journey!
