Does It Just Happen or Do You Have A Success Strategy????

6 easy steps for creating a success strategy!

Many people think strategically only when forced to in terms of a business process. It is my contention that only a few are really able to think and then act strategically on a personal level let alone in relation to their career or a business.

You may ask why I make that asertion and what right have I to do so? Let me say in no way do I seek to be offensive and I am trying to be constructive.

From years of running businesses and consulting on business strategy and performance it is clear to me that things happen to us, to our professional life and to our businesses.

What’s more it’s very difficult to make things happen as you would wish. It follows therefore that we need to develop skill in success engineering. This is why it is so important to take stock and seek to achieve success with a personal or business success strategy.

Phil Gosling has re-defined the whole process of goal setting in his great book. Whatever you are seeking to do Phil's book is a phenomen. Make sure you click the link.

A good way to start building a success strategy which can be refined is to follow the six steps and be very honest with yourself as you proceed.

1. Where are we now? What is the current situation and why? Is it satisfactory and could it be better.

2. How did we get here? What did we do or not do which created the current position?

3. Where are we going? What are our goals to move to a better situation?

4. Why do we want to go there? Financial? Status? Altruism? We need to know why, otherwise we won’t have direction and focus.

5. What are the challenges/obstacles? This is where it gets interesting because we start to define what we need to do.

6. What are we going to do and by when?

So there it is. Current position and why, what do we want to do/where do we want to go? What will it take to get there/how are we going to do it and by when?

Are we going to start success engineering, take action and do it or just let things happen?

How many of us in our personal and professional lives are really satisfied in every respect? Be honest, and in our businesses as owners or in employment do we have plans and objectives that are a realistic achieveable success strategy?

Tip. Every success is founded on numerous failures.
