Recently I have been made aware of how true this statement can be. My main web site is a content site.

Why? Well I like writing and passing on some of my experiences so that bit is easy. But the site is a content site mainly because it is built with sitebuild it from SiteSell.

This brings me conveniently back to why I titled this article; It IS The Content That Counts.

My father was a design oriented engineer as was I in the early part of the employed section of my life. Both of us collected technical publications for use in our work. I ended up owning about 170 of these publications (Dads and mine). A5 size, 30 to 120 pages of top quality technical writing and data on the specialization of the author.

They were being published in the UK from the 1920's to spread the knowledge and I was still buying them in the 1970's. At that time my career went in a different direction so my fathers collection and mine went you know where. In the loft.

As part of a downsizing project I am selling a lot of our collected items on ebay and turned to the technical publications.

What fun, a simple listing and you have a product for sale in a world market. The publications are listed at $4.97 and some sell at that price. Many more go at higher prices as each one has an appeal to the buyer set by the relevance of the content.

They are still selling well and to date the best sale is $80.99 for a 76 page A5 size publication on 'The Essentials of Plane Table Surveying'.

It is the content that counts because this publication is clearly very, very relevant to the needs of the buyer. So Ken Evoy is again proved to be correct, find your niche and build your online business on content.
