Getting your business known 1.... - 'byobe' Bulletin 065. May 07, 2006 |
| Hello & Welcome How to become well known in your market We have previously covered how to establish your credibility in the market in general terms. In this article we will cover how consultants and trainers can raise their profile by using simple easy to do techniques. Always remember you are an expert in your field. Don't be boastful but also don't be shy, use your talents to promote your business. * Don't be tempted to take work at any price. Leave space in your diary rather than get involved with a wrong proposition or wrong customer. * If you leave space in your diary you will be able to seize opportunity when it presents itself. Too many consultants and speakers concentrate on filling their diary and miss out on lucrative opportunities. To many businesses selling products fill their order books with un-profitable business. * Develop your self-belief. Know what you are worth and charge it. It is too easy to underestimate your real value. The value of what you know. What you know is unique to you - try to remember that. * Test the market on price. Be at the very edge of your market price at all times. Be prepared to lose a few contracts rather than under price. Guard against pricing yourself out of a market. That statement cuts two ways! * Use any spare time to keep doing the things mentioned in these articles to develop your market position. * Join speaking groups to develop your confidence. Grasp any opportunity to get on your feet. Get on the speaking circuit to promote your business. The opportunities will then find you. We will be developing more of these themes in the next few weeks.
Tip of the week. If you don't succeed ask yourself 'Why?' That's all for now. I hope you will enjoy your next issue of 'byobe' Bulletin - helping you to succeed. Best wishes, Michael Harrison.
