* Can you create memorable address that in some way infers something about your business? I have a neighbour whose house is called 'The Old Cider House'. It was once a business that dispensed cider.

* Be passionate. Passion is infectious and communicates easily to your clients. Genuine passion will create enthusiasm.

* Regular contact with your clients is a very personal act. They will remember and be grateful for your interest.

* Your contact should be unconditional. You don't just contact them because you want to sell to them or get something from them.

Remember them at notable times like Christmas. I dislike receiving a standard letter from personal friends but it works in a business context if you have something interesting or new to tell.

* It often happens that you see articles relating to the business or industry of a client. Snip it out and send it. This lets them know you are thinking about them and you can use it a means of reminding them you can help add value.

* Keep focused on your clients.

Generosity, to be perfect, should always be accompanied by a dash of humour.
