The eBay Market .... - 'byobe' Bulletin 088. October 15, 2006 |
| Hello & Welcome In recent weeks I have been playing around on the eBay market. Yes I'm a slow starter. As I have mentioned before, it's good fun but it also follows some well founded business principles. In a previous Bulletin I have written about the correct way to bring a product to market. Namely find the market need and then meet that need with your product or service. The eBay market is no different. I have started as I guess most people do by selling off un-wanted items. It's been successful. Put any old item up and it seems to sell. Maybe I was just lucky because now my items are not selling quite so well. I was thinking about this and realised I had got into a mindset of 'that's old' or 'that's unusual' so let's put it on the eBay market and sell it. Do you see where I am coming from? Because of my initial flush of success I was starting to believe almost anything would sell. So I was finding a product and trying to find a market. Wrong! It is very clear on eBay as with any business you need a market so that you can bring your product to that market. Much as I liked the items I was trying to sell, they were old or they are interesting it did not mean they would sell. I am starting to get a feel for what may sell in the areas that interest me but I am sure there will be many more sound business lessons to be learned on the eBay market before I have found what really makes money. Whatever your product or service be sure there is a market need and then set out to meet that need, just like on the eBay market. You can do more than auctions on eBay. Tip of the week. One important key to success is self- confidence. An important key to self-confidence is preparation. - Arther Ashe That's all for now.
