This is an inspiring story!

Anyone who has read my articles and visited my web sites will know my fundamental belief in people is that you can do almost anything if you try.

It sickens me to think of the waste all around the world of all the people who given the chance could achieve so much if only they had self- belief and determination.

This fact is confirmed time and again when you hear of situations like the following.

This is a great story and example of a person overcoming adversity and going on to achieve things in her life that are way above what she would have ever believed or expected.

A friend of my wife is a widow with a son and daughter. Happily married she worked to supplement the family income as a school caretaker. When her husband sadly died from cancer she had to become the family bread winner. With no formal training and no qualifications she really was starting from the bottom.

Eventually she sought and won a job with a Building Society where she worked in the front office on the counter dispensing money to clients etc.

This was the start of dramatic developments in her life! She managed to get her rented housing situation on a secure footing and was going along nicely enjoying her work until she faced the trauma of being held up in an armed robbery.

Understandingly she suffered from after effects and a major loss of confidence. Eventually she faced up to her problems and returned to work. Where it seems thing are now going well.

From a human interest standpoint my wife has kept me informed of this lady’s progress and the latest news is that she is now in the top 8 in the UK in her particular role in the Building Society for which she works. On the strength of this award she is to be taken at the society's expense with others to a resort for pampering a luxury stay as a reward.

I just love this story and if ever you doubt yourself as you move through your life and career think about it and make the bold step. You never know where it may take you!
