When the Going Gets Tough.............

My daughter recently gave me a present for Father's Day. A tee shirt with the message across the chest 'When the Going Gets Tough - Call Dad'

We had some fun over this and her children were impressed when Grandpa wore the tee shirt.

For those not familiar the full message is - 'When the Going Gets Tough the Tough Get Going'.

This brings me to an inspirational subject recently outlined in the national press.

Basically the article covered how in this deep recession some enterprising people have started their own businesses and explained how they a getting on. The facts are staggering and inspirational.

One young lady has set up a PR firm and has drawn business from the larger more expensive agencies.

Similar to me, one 46 year old chap has started his own consultancy and found it liberating.

Another male, ex-banker now runs his own business as a handy man doing the general jobs that home owners don't want to tackle. I know someone who did this happily for years.

The core lesson from this is, these and many people like them are discovering their entrepreneurial capabilities and enjoying themselves. Some have been made redundant or 'let go' whilst some have branched out intentionally. In the US they're are called the 'fun employed'.

All of this fits with the ethos of my site and as I know from my own experiences the process of going independent is stimulating, liberating and financially rewarding. You quickly find you start to instinctively look for opportunities that fit with your business as your entrepreneurial instincts are released.
